“Improves road safety: yes. Destabilizes society due to permanent loss of 3.5 million jobs: absolutely yes,” wrote reader Dave Darwent on Facebook about driverless trucks on Florida roads.

Under a new state law, driverless trucks will be hitting the roads of Florida — and hopefully, that’s all they’ll be hitting. Worry over the trucks’ safety, especially given the law’s lax inspection regulations, had many readers expressing severe misgivings when we asked what they thought of the new law and the new automatons that will be sharing the road with them.

The first iteration of these trucks will include remote pilots during the beginning and ending of the trucks’ journey, but some readers felt even that was not enough.
